Jam is so easy to make. Once you make it, you’ll never want to buy a jar of jam ever again! Let’s get right to it…
Easy Strawberry Jam Recipe
Recipe adapted by Carmen Ortiz of Baking is my Zen
INGREDIENTS
1 pound strawberries, rinsed, dried and hulled
6 tablespoons sugar
1 thin slice lemon (with peel)
Dash of vanilla extract
Pinch of sea salt
DIRECTIONS
Rinse strawberries.
Dry strawberries.
Cut off tops.
Place the strawberries in a food processor and pulse until coarsely chopped.
Pour chopped strawberries in a medium saucepan.
Add sugar, lemon slice, vanilla extract and sea salt.
Cover and cook over medium heat for 4 to 5 minutes, stirring occasionally. Sugar will melt and the berries will soften and release some of their liquid.
Uncover.
Lower flame.
Simmer until the berries fall apart and mixture is thickened and no longer watery, 12 to 15 minutes.
Remove lemon peel.
Ladle into a glass jar.
Enjoy warm or cool.
TO STORE: Cool to room temperature, cover and refrigerate up to 2 weeks.
